PMSAP provides a comprehensive review of Practice Management System (PMS) vendors in the areas of privacy, security, mandated standards and operating rules, and key operational functions. The accreditation program assesses health information and oversight for meeting privacy and security, HIPAA, HITECH, Omnibus Rule, 21st Century Cures Act, and ACA requirements, as well as technical performance, business processes and resource management. The comprehensive third-party review provides an additional level of confidence for medical practices and other healthcare providers who are under competitive pressures to continually maximize their cash flow.

The program was designed for PMS vendors who provide the necessary software to keep medical offices running smoothly and facilitate everything from practice management and operations to revenue cycle optimization, monthly report generation and the seamless integration with electronic health record systems.

Developed by industry-peers, the accreditation program’s criteria, standards and framework creates a core set of requirements for compliance. In addition, the program:

  • ensures trust for managing the digital credentials used between exchange users;
  • reviews the key functions of portability, interoperability, clinical integration, compliance monitoring, billing, reporting and industry certification/accreditation;
